The real challenge of training a service dog is all the time that you put into working one on one with the dog when the trainer isn’t on hand!  Beth was sick this week so couldn’t make it but that didn’t stop our end of the work.

We don’t have Suzy to the point yet of doing things without the treat but she is doing really good at this point with the treats.  Before long we will start moving away from the treats more and more.

Another first for us was done on Tuesday before we found out that Beth wasn’t coming.  I was picking up Milton’s room when Suzy came in and jumped up on Milton’s bed and laid down.  She has laid on Abigail’s bed numerous times but not on Milton’s.  We are hoping that she will soon be sleeping in with him which will help us know when he is throwing seizures more.

Tuesday evening we ran into town to pick up some stuff from the store and Milton had problems.  He went completely limp and was barely able to walk.  Suzy put her nose under his hand and transfered it to her back, then helped him get to the car.  She always rides with her head on top of her paws, but this time she put her head on his chest and kept his head up.  Don’t know for sure what was going on but something was happening and she sensed it.

This coming week we will be taking Jenny and Beth to speech therapy with us.  This is a great journey and we are looking forward to helping get more of these dogs into autistic and epileptic families so that they can have more freedom and relief.

Check out the new website about Jenny and Beth’s group at At Your Service.  They are hoping to help out as many families as possible.  Their prices are great too!!  Interested in training a service dog?  Check them out and give us a call!

I'm the wife of my best friend that God gave to me over 20+ years ago. We have been blessed with 3 children, James (by adoption); Abigail & Milton (special needs child) and our service dog, Suzy. I have been blessed to be able to homeschool since 1997 and be the co-director with my husband, Michael, of the state wide Christian homeschool organization, MATCH since 1999. God has blessed us abundantly.
